MISSION STATEMENT:

To assist Victims of Crime and to provide resources for making positive life choices.

To provide a non-judgmental, supportive environment respecting the dignity of those we assist.

To educate the tribal community on issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.

VISION STATEMENT

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe acknowledges that violence against Native Women exists.

The Victim Services Program restores the respect of our women, strengthens our families, builds hope in our commmunity, and creates a positive, non-violent vision which inspires others.

In an effort to stop violence against women, we are committed to working together for the common goals of empowering women in taking control of their lives, by promoting awareness of violence against women, and by having abusers acknowledge their violence and be resonsible for their behavior. 

Services:

Services provided by our Program are confidential, and we protect victims’ privacy and security.  Services are free of charge for Program participants, and are funded by federal and state grant programs.  Our services include:

• Emergency shelter or housing, food, clothing and financial assistance
• Assistance in obtaining emergency medical care
• Transitional housing assistance
• Assistance in filing police reports and other contact with law enforcement
• Applications for Restraining/Protection Order
• Transportation Assistance
• In-house individual and group counseling
• Assistance in filing for government benefits and programs
• Legal counsel and advocacy
• Court advocacy and accompaniment

We operate our own Tamme Pea Nobe ("Our Mothers' House) shelter and the Program office facility. The shelter operates 7 days per week. The office business hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with staff on-call for evening and weekend emergencies. Our staff members include the program coordinator, several shelter advocates, a program assistant, a counselor, a sexual assault advocate, a transitional housing advocate, and a legal advocate.
